Sleep and Hibernation Settings On Your Computer
Sleep & Hibernation Settings on your Computer
There are two main features on computers that most people are
not fully aware of, they are the Sleep and Hibernation settings.
While many people won't recognize these settings, they have
probably realized that their computers have fallen into these
setting at least once in the past. Here is what both Sleep and
Hibernation settings are used for and how they operate.
The sleep setting on your computer is usually set up to make
sure that no harm comes to your computer while you are away from
it for a few hours. The sleep setting tells your computer to
turn off the monitor, stop the hard drive and save your current
programs and files that you were working on to memory. Many
people walk away from their computer while mid task for hours at
a time. The Sleep setting ensures that your work won't be lost
and that your hard drive won't crash.
The Hibernation setting is similar
to the Sleep setting. If you
walk away from an active computer for more than a few hours or
days, your computer will go into hibernation mode. Hibernation
also shuts down the monitor, stops the hard drive and saves
files and applications into memory, but it also lowers your
computer consumption. Hibernation mode will stop your computer
from wasting energy for long periods of time while it is not in
use.
You can change the amount of time for these setting in your
computers control panel. You can even turn off the setting if
you wish. So now you can use these two setting to your
advantage.
